Is my Operating System (OS) supported?
- We support Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X and Snow Leopard, Linux, and Solaris!

Is GatherPlace Secure?
- Yes. In order to get into a session you need an access code that can only be provided by the host. The host has full visibility on who is in the meeting and can lock the meeting to prevent more guests from joining, and can selectively disconnect existing guests. Guests only see what you show them and cannot access any files or information on your computer without your knowledge. GatherPlace servers run the latest Unix technology and is hosted in secure, guarded facilities with backup power. GatherPlace is also part of the Hacker-Safe program that ensures your safety.
Can I use GatherPlace on more than one computer?
- Yes. You can host sessions from as many computers as you want with your Account as long as you use one computer at a time.
What is the difference between an Individual and Shared Account?
- An Individual Account is for one person, to host one meeting at a time using a single login Account from any PC or Mac. You can also run reports on meetings that have been hosted. Shared Accounts allow you to create an unlimited number of login Accounts for others within the same company. This gives each user their own login credentials so they can host their own meetings but only one person can host a meeting concurrently. However you are still limited to hosting a single meeting at a time between all sub-accounts unless you get multiple "Rooms" under your Shared Account and share those respectively with your colleagues. The shared account also allows the Master Account to run reports on all the users which allows the Master Account to view the history and details of all the meetings.
When should I buy 2 Individual Accounts instead of 1 Shared Account?
- If you and your colleagues need to host one meeting at a time, the Shared Account is the way to go. If you need to conduct more than one meeting at a time, you have two options: 1) purchase more than one Individual Account if each person wishes to manage his/her own account; or 2) purchase a Shared Account with as many meeting "Rooms" as you need if you wish to manage all of your meetings under one Master Account.
Do you offer voice teleconferencing? How much does it cost?
- Yes. We offer Basic Teleconferencing at no charge, in which everyone dials a teleconferencing phone number that GatherPlace provides (standard long distance rates apply). We also offer VoIP teleconferencing (participants dial in with their computer) as part of our Premium Service. Optional Toll-free Teleconferencing is also available. Click here for pricing details.
Do you offer recording?
- Yes, we do offer recording as part of our Premium Service. Click here for pricing details. Recording will record voice synchronized with web conferencing.
Do you offer toll-free teleconferencing? How much does it cost?
- Yes. Toll-free is now available to Basic and Premium customers in the U.S. and Canada. Click here for pricing details.
Do you offer VoIP / Voice over Internet Protocol? How much does it cost?
- Yes. VoIP is now available to customers as part of our Premium Service. Our VoIP service is integrated into the GatherPlace Software! Click here for pricing details.
What are the differences between the Mac and Windows versions of the Host Software?
- We are constantly working to provide consistent features between all supported platforms. The Mac and Windows versions offer the same features except for the following: 1) Only Windows users can selectively choose single applications to show, whereas Mac users can only share their entire desktop; 2) Windows Hosts can hide the GatherPlace client view, and Mac Hosts cannot.
How much does integration cost?
- Basic Integration is FREE! Please refer to our Integration Page for more details; please contact us if you need custom integration.
Do you have daily event pricing?
- No.
Do you support video conferencing?
- No. We focus only on web conferencing and teleconferencing services for a simple user experience so you can focus on business instead of trying to resolve technical issues.
Can I upgrade or downgrade the size of my Account and, if so, is there a fee?
- Yes, you can upgrade and downgrade your account each month. There is no fee to change your Account, however, no refunds are provided. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more details. To change your Account to and from Premium, please go to our subscribe page. To change the size or from/to Individual and/or Shared, please contact us.
If an Account says it includes "5 Guests", does that include the Host?
- No. A 5-Guest Account means you can Host your meeting and have 5 other people join your session.
If I sign up for a 5-Guest Individual Account, am I limited to the same 5 guests for all my meetings?
- No. You can have different Guests for any meeting as long as there are only 5 Guests connected at any time. You can host as many consecutive meetings for as long as you want during a given month.
Do Guests or Co-presenters have to subscribe to GatherPlace?
- No. Guests and Co-presenters participate for FREE as long as you are hosting the meeting.
Do you support Video playback?
- No. Even though shared video applications are visible to guests, the frame rate will be lower and no sound will be sent. This is similar to other web conferencing solutions.
Can I let others use my Individual Account?
- Personally you can host from any PC or Mac. However the license does not allow you to share your account with others.
Can I subscribe to GatherPlace just to use the teleconferencing service features only (no web conferencing)?
- Yes, but you must still sign up for the web conferencing service. However, you do not need to use web conferencing in every call. Your call could consist of teleconferences only, web conferences only or a mixture of teleconferencing and web conferencing.
Can I use my own teleconferencing phone number instead of what GP uses? Does it cost extra?
- Yes, you can use your own teleconferencing number and can even post it to your Guests. It does NOT cost extra for this feature. Custom teleconferencing will not provide the same level of integration as the GatherPlace Advanced Teleconferencing.
